21 & 22 October.
ROME:
Well after flying and airports for 28 hours, we arrived in Rome, Sunday 7.30am and it was just getting light, and it was cold. We trained into Termini and eventually found our hotel, lots of walking with suitcases in tow. We couldn't check in so we left our suitcases in their reception. Then why waist anytime, with hardly any sleep, we got into sightseeing the Roman Forum and all the way round to the Colosseum. Amazing place, its great to be in a place where the history is so old and significant, in how it has shaped the world we live in today.
Back to the hotel, and a snooze, then out for dinner, and off to see more sights, including the Trevi Fountain at night.
Day Two: Metro day ticket for 4 euro, and it's off we go, breakfast and more sights, and off to the Vatican City. There are photo's of some things in the Vatican Museum and Sistine Chapel, and St Peter's Basilica. Amazing hardly describes the place, art & architecture wise. MIchelangelo a most gifted and creative man, what can you say but be in awe of his work. (especially his sculpture Pieta, photo attached).
Back out for dinner tonight, off to the Internet Cafe to upload this lot, then off to bed, as we are off to Civitavecchia to board our cruise.
