Cruise Day 1 & 2

23 & 24 October
Cruise Day 1 & 2
Got the train down to Civitavecchia, what a great spot by the sea, actually the terrain on the way down from Rome is very much like Australia, no wonder so many Italians came to Australia in the 60's, I have a picture of the fort that MIchelangelo designed at the port, his influence is everywhere. Then we boarded our cruise; Its mainly Americans over 50 or 60, we are more matched to the crew age not passengers, and the crew have Aussies and Kiwis so it will be good chatting with them. As I type this we are on a launch off to the Isle of Capri and it's Sharon's Birthday too..... 21 again (for the 22nd year in a row) it's all I can do to humour her in her old age...
The cabin is nice, great to have a balcony, we woke up this morning, to the lights of Sorrento, just as the sun was rising, very beautiful.
Dinner last night was very good, we were with two older American couples, one from Kansas and the other from Conneticut. We had a great table by the big windows as the sun was setting and the lights were coming on in the seaside towns.
Isle of Capri was really cute with great designer shops. Pity the weather wasn't a little sunnier it would have made the photos priceless, but still a beautiful place. Even managed to get a coffee for 1.50 euro there, that was a miracle. Walking the tight, winding, cobbled streets was great, except for all us tourists. Unfortunately the "Tour Groups" spoil it as when they arrive in force, it clogs everything up. We went on our own, and its great t just wander and see what you want to see.
